Hello Carol

It's the Coonrad/Morrey one. Forgot to say that the new one is mostly without pain, and that is why it was done. Certainly not pretty!

Sandy

Thanks Sandy, I'll google and see if I can find piccies. Do you mean the scar is not pretty, or something else?

The scar is fine its just that my arm's are skinny and it looks odd!

Hi Diane,

Glad you can still drive. I'm using a courtesy car at the moment, a Peugeot 207 SW and I can't move the steering wheel, so have been driving at 1/4 to 3, rather than 10 to 2. I haven't used a steering ball, but don't think I'd like one, especially if the wheel swung round and hit my hands or wrists - ouch! I tend to "exercise" my elbows and hands at convenient points along the way, i.e. red lights., to help ease the stiffness and pain. The Peugeot is difficult getting into, with bad hip and fused spine. I'm hoping my car will be fixed this week - a young lad drove into the back of my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso whilst I was parked! They had sent me a Kia Sedona, but that was difficult, being so high!

My left elbow is more bent than my right and yet my right joint is more deteriorated. He put this down to my being right handed and using my right arm more. He always tells me its important to keep all joints moving, to keep them "lubricated".

My Rheumy is of the opinion I should keep taking MTX, Hydroxy and Prednisolone before, during and after surgery, whereas my hip surgeon told me to stop it. Its strange how they all have different opinions.

Thanks again,
Carol

Sandy,

I googled Coonrad/Morrey and it sounds like its the best elbow replacement out there. It's been used for 24 years on RA patients. Thanks, I'll know what to ask for.

Carol
